Police arrest 34-year-old male suspect for assault case in Choiseul Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro have arrested a 34-year-old male suspect for assaulting a victim at Malengari Village in Choiseul Province on 16 August 2020.
The assault incident occurred on 13 August 2020.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The male person was allegedly drunk and assaulted the complainant and also damaged the complainant properties.”
PPC Eria says, “It is also alleged that the suspect also whipped a five-month-old pregnant mother on her belly with a stick. The mother was admitted at the Polo Clinic after the incident. The suspect further threatened people in the Village causing fear among them.”
The male suspect has been charged for malicious damage and assault causing bodily harm. He will appear during the Taro Court Circuit on 11 November 2020.
“Investigation into the incident is continuing and I ask anyone you may have any information regarding the incident to assist police with the investigation.”
The arresting team also conducted awareness on COVID-19, security and crime prevention at Malengari and Sariana Villages before returning to Taro.
