Police Commissioner Matthew Varley successfully concluded his second provincial trip to Tulagi, in the Central Islands Province.
Upon arrival at Tulagi, Commissioner Varley inspected an officers parade and handed out certificates of appreciation to the officers stationed in Tulagi.
Provincial Police Commander Central Islands Province, Patricia Leta welcomed Commissioner Varley saying, “It is a honour and privilege for the Commissioner to visit my station and officers.”
Speaking to the officers after the parade, Commissioner Varley commendated their community policing work and reminded them of their responsibility to the community.
He said, “As the police, we need the communities support and trust to carry out our duties in any environment.”
And Commissioner Varley reiterated the point that the police officers were representing him in the community and the image of the RSIPF depended on their individual behaviour in the communities they worked in.
Commissioner Varley also paid a courtesy call on the Premier of Central Islands Province and his executive.
Premier Patrick Vasuni welcomed Commissioner Varley to his provincial headquarters.
Commissioner Varley met with the premier and informed him of the work being done by RSIPF and the final withdrawal of RAMSI.
The Commissioner also visited the new and still under construction Police Headquarters in Tulagi.
Finally before leaving Commissioner Varley visited the market and chatted to locals during his brief stop at the market.
