Yacht sighted at Vanikoro Island cleared at Noro

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) clarify that a yacht sighted at Vainkoro Island, Temotu Province was cleared by Customs and Immigration at Noro recently.

Temotu Police Operation Manager, Inspector Walter Leleina says, “The yacht last port of call in Western Province, Honiara, Santa Anna and then to Vanikoro Islands since last month.”

Inspector Leleina says, “The name of the is JAYOM, colour green and only a passenger on board. This is an out-ward yacht taking the route for New Caledonia but due to lock-down from borders, yacht still remain at Vanikoro for almost a month now.”

Mr Leleina says, “Information from customs officer here had stated that the yacht currently switch off his marine-trackers and they cannot track his movement here in the Solomon Islands waters.”

He says, “At the moment a team from the Customs, Immigration, Police and Aviation here in Lata are planning to travel to Vanikoro and Utupua on site visit for a task and check for the yacht.”
