Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) in Honiara are investigating an incident involving a Chinese national under COVID-19 quarantine at the Pacific Casino Hotel in Honiara on 3 September 2020.

It was reported to police that a vehicle entered the Pacific Casino Hotel premises and a parcel was passed to another person in the vehicle by the Chinese national under quarantine at the Hotel through the ventilation window of a room on the southern side of the premises.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner for Crime and Intelligence Chief Superintendent John Rove says, “The alleged incident was reported to the police by the COVID-19 Camp Management team which manages all the quarantine stations after the employees of the Pacific Casino Hotel brought it to their attention.”

“I can confirm that NCID investigators have started investigating the alleged incident. I call any member of the public who was in the vicinity of the Pacific Casino Hotel from mid-day of 3 September 2020 to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation,” says Chief Superintendent Rove.
