Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki in Malaita Province are investigating the alleged murder of a 40-year-old man at Sisikwae Village, West Kwara’ae on 9 September 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) in Malaita Province Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “According to a report received by police at Auki the deceased got married to a woman from Sisikwae Village and both had four children. The wife of the deceased is believed to have had an affair with three other men from the same village.”

“According to the report, the wife of the deceased had been sick for almost a year and had been admitted at the Kilu’ufi Hospital. She died on 7 September 2020 after confessing her affair with the three other men.”

“On Wednesday 9 September 2020 after the burial of his wife, the deceased and his son went down to the main village at Sisikwae and attacked one of the persons mentioned by his wife in her confession. The attack left the person unconscious and after regaining his consciousness, he took his long bush knife and chased after the deceased. It is alleged that the prime suspect met up with the deceased and cut the left hand of the deceased who died instantly through loss of blood.”

“The person is now the prime suspect of this alleged murder incident. The other person who also aided the prime suspect has also surrendered himself to police. Both suspects are now in custody,” says PPC Riolo.

He adds, “My sincere condolences to the family of the deceased for the loss of one of their members in such a sad incident.”

“I appeal to the people of Sisikwae Village to remain calm and assist police with the investigation into this tragic incident,” says PPC Riolo.
