The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) now have better accommodation for its new recruits following the completion of renovations to the police barracks at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara

The Australian Government funded Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) funded the renovations at a cost of $230,000.00. The refurbished barracks were handed over to the Commissioner of the RSIPF, Mostyn Mangau by the Acting Commander of the SIPDP Heath Davies during a brief ceremony today (27 November 2020).

Commissioner Mangau explains, “The police barracks were in need of major renovations as the RSIPF continues with its recruitment of new officers in preparation for the 2023 Pacific Games. RSIPF is very thankful to SIPDP for agreeing to renovate the barracks in time for the next lot of recruitment expected to start before the end of this year. The renovated barracks can accommodate 70 officers.”

“SIPDP has provided over $230,000 to undertake the urgent repairs to the police barracks. SIPDP has also provided the RSIPF Academy with a 35-seat computer laboratory, computers and televisions in all classrooms, a renovated Academy kitchen and a gymnasium with two full time SIPDP physical trainers,” says Commissioner Mangau.
