Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa in the Rennell Bellona Province are conducting a festive season operation to maintain law and order for a safe and peaceful celebration for people in that Province.

The Festive operation will include:
• Traffic checks;
• Maintenance of high visibility in and around the communities;
• Monitoring disturbances within the villages;
• Assisting COVID 19 awareness programme; and
• Other related policing duties.

As part of the festive operation, police at Tigoa apprehended one female person for questioning, in relation to a report received on 23 December 2020 about allegations that someone was selling kwaso a certain location.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Rennell Bellona Province Eddie Peseika says, “According to the initial report, someone was allegedly selling kwaso at the location. My officers on foot beat patrol reached the location and removed a carton of kwaso that was in possession of a female from Malaita Province residing there.

The female suspect was brought to the Police station at Tigoa for further investigation.

“We must work together with our police officers to assist them in their duties. Whatever you know is not allowed by law, refrain from it and do the right thing,” says Supervising PPC Peseika.

He adds, “I want to appeal to my good people of Rennell and Bellona t to celebrate he festive season in a peaceful and respectful manner. Respect one another. Police will not tolerate any form of crime encountered during the police operation but will take action and prosecute those who commit any crime.”
