RSIPF investigates traffic incident in Western Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Noro Police Station in Western Province are investigating a traffic accident resulting in the death of an adult male person at Kokosu highway road in Noro Town on 27 December 2020.
Initial report said that a 23-year- old male person was driving a taxi in the early hours of 27 December 2020, when he allegedly run over the victim. The driver immediately response and help the victim inside his car and rush him to Noro clinic for medical attention.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander Western Province Inspector Wilken Miriki says,
“The incident was reported to Noro police early in the morning when the victim was further transported to Helena Goldie Hospital in Munda.”
PPC Miriki says, “The victim was later transported to Gizo Hospital for further treatment seeing that he sustain major injuries that cannot be treated at the Helena Goldie Hospital. The victim was later pronounced death at the Gizo hospital on 28 December 2020.”
“Noro Police are investigating the accident and calling on anyone who might have seeing what happen to come forward and help the police with their investigation.”
“I call on all drivers and pedestrians in Western province to take extra precaution when using roads to avoid such accident and loss of life during this festive season,” says PPC Miriki.
