RSIPF reminds public of the process for filing

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) reminds members of the public about the formal ways to lodge complaints through making formal statements and not through just talking directly to any officer or to the office of the provincial police commanders in the provinces.

This follows a complaint in the media from a member of the public that the officers at the Auki Police Station in Malaita Province have failed to attend to a report of malicious damage, brewing of kwaso and a group of people causing threat to some members of the communities in East Kwaio.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Inspector Michael Ramosaea says, “Officers at Auki Police Station are responsible for matters in West Kwaio, West Are’are, Central Kwara’ae, West Kwara’ae, and West Fataleka and to assist other areas when necessary.”

“Police have formal ways to lodge complaints by obtaining statements and not through talking directly to any officer or to the office of the provincial police commander. The complainant should lodge his formal report to police at the Atoifi or Atori police posts so that an arrangement could be made to assist him. We have senior officers serving at the two police posts.”

Inspector Ramosaea explains, “In other parts of Malaita Province many communities create a very strong bond with police which they themselves take the initiative in having by-laws and the community to work closely with police in the apprehension of criminals and combatting anti-social behaviour.”

“I call on any member of the public either in Malaita or any parts of the country to follow the right procedure for filing any complaints instead of going to the media. Police in Auki and throughout the country are there to assist members of the public,” says Supervising PPC Ramosaea.
