RSIPF officer suspended while investigations continue into unlawful incident east of Honiara
An officer of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has been suspended in relation to an alleged unlawful act committed in the Henderson area east of Honiara on 1 January 2021.
It is alleged that the officer and three other boys who living with him were drunk at that time. The police officer later had an argument with the complainant’s nephew resulting in the complainant’s nephew assaulting the officer on his forehead. In retaliation, the police officer and his boys entered the complainant’s residence and damaged properties including a dwelling house.
Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “An investigation into this matter is progressing very well. The officer has been suspended on half pay as from end of January 2021. The officer is not allowed to perform any police duties during his suspension period.”
“I want to assure the public that investigation into complex matters take time. RSIPF will continue to update the public on the progress of the investigation into this matter.”
Commissioner Mangau adds, “I call on the general public in the Henderson area who may have any information about the incident to come forward and report it to the RSIPF Professional Standard and Internal Investigations (PSII).”
