Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Gizo Police Station in the Western province are investigating the death of an adult male person that occurred in the township on 30 January 2021

An initial report says that on the night of 29 January 2021, the deceased with one woman spend a night at one of the motels at Gizo. During the night, the deceased felt dizzy so he asked the woman to massage him. On the next day, the woman first woke up, touched the deceased’s body, and felt it very cold.

The woman tried to wake up the deceased but he did not respond. She then went to the nearby residence to seek assistance.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander Western Province Inspector Wilken Miriki says, “The matter was reported to police at Gizo after the woman and members of the public confirmed the man was dead.”

“Police officers and a medical team from the Gizo Hospital attended the report and confirmed the death. The dead body was taken to the Gizo Hospital where a post mortem was carried out on 1 February 2021 while police investigations continue.”

“My condolence to the families and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.”

PPC Miriki adds, “I call on the general public in the township who may have any information about the incident to come forward and speak to investigators at the Gizo Police Station.”
