RSIPF investigates suspicious death incident in East Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Naha Police Station in are investigating the suspicious death of an adult male person at the Sanalae Apartment at Panatina Ridge in East Honiara yesterday morning (10 February 2021).

An initial police brief on the incident say the deceased, checked into the Sanalae Apartment after mid-day on 9 February 2021. When a Apartment employee went to check on the guest after checkout time yesterday afternoon (10 February 202I) he discovered the deceased lying face down on the bed with a bed sheet covering half of his body. The employee called the name of the deceased several times but there was no response.

“Police and the Saint John’s Ambulance were called for assistance. Saint John’s Ambulance transported the body to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) where he was pronounced dead,” says Officer Commanding Station, Naha Police Station, Superintendent Ben Jonathan

He adds, “Criminal Investigation Division officers at the Naha Police Station together with officers of the RSIPF Forensic Department attended the scene of the crime and several statements have been taken from witnesses.”

“The investigation into this matter continues after a relative of the deceased came forward today to identify the body while it was at the NRH mortuary. Our sincerely condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased while they mourn the passing away of one of their members,” says Superintendent Ben.
