RSIPF charges suspect with common assault in Central Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested and charged a suspect with common assault following to a domestic violence incident that happened at Hagalu Village, Small Ngella on 9 February 2021.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Inspector Walter Manefakale says, “The suspect is alleged to have thrown a stick at the victim hitting her on her left foot. She sustained an injury to her left foot. The suspect is alleged to have shot the victim again with another stick but the victim saw the stick coming so avoided it. She felt great pain after the shooting incident and was taken to Tulagi Hospital for treatment.”
PPC Manefakale explains, “The victim, the local Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) and the local chief tried to resolve the incident between the two parties but the suspect failed to comply what was agreed on. The matter was then reported to police at Tulagi and the suspect was arrested on 5 March 2021 and placed in the cell for further dealings.”
The suspect has been charged with common assault contrary to section 244 of the penal code and will appear in court on 5 July 2021
