RSIPF successfully conducts “Operation Wakabaot” in Honiara
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station successfully conducted “Operation Wakabaot” in the capital city on 11 March 2021.
The operation involved officers from the Central Police Station and officers from the Fire and Rescue Service. During the Operation, officers conducted foot patrols covering commercial areas, shops, the Honiara Central Market, Government offices, residential sites and other public compounds.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent John Matamaru says, “The purpose of the operation was to patrol public places on foot and interact with members of the public, building good relationship and to ensure there is no crime during normal business hours in the City.”
“The presence of officers in the City will stop people intending to commit offences such as pick pocketing, selling kwaso and marijuana in the public and other disturbances that may cause fear to the general public.”
“I want to thank members of the public in Honiara who continue to abide by our laws. Your police is there to assist and make sure you are safe when doing business in our commercial areas. I also want to thank officers who were involved in this operation for their effort in making this operation successful,” says Superintendent Matamaru.
