The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends members of the public for their great behaviour shown during the recent Easter long weekend from 2 to 5 April 2021.

RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “I would like to thank members of the public in Honiara and in the provinces for the great behaviour shown during the Easter period.”

“I would also like to commend the hard work RSIPF officers who were involved in the Easter operation ensuring law and order was observed while people celebrate Easter.”

Commissioner Mangau adds, “The RSIPF however recorded the death of a 70-year-old male person in Makira Ulawa Province after a boat sunk on 2 April 2021 while travelling from Kirakira to Santa Ana.”

“Our records show low number of arrests in Honiara and as well in the provinces on minor offences. Generally, Easter was peaceful throughout the provinces,” says Commissioner Mangau

“I wish to thank the churches and sporting organizations for organizing activities to mark the long Easter weekend keeping our youth preoccupied with a positive frame of mind.”

“I appeal to all good citizens of this country to continue with such good behaviour during celebrations of any sort. Your police is there to support you and make sure we are all safe during any celebration,” says Commissioner Mangau.
