RSIPF arrests suspect for alleged murder in Malaita Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Central Police Station in Honiara have arrested a suspect in an alleged murder incident at Afeala village, East Kwaio, Malaita Province on 24 April 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “The suspect has been arrested following an alleged Murder incident occurred at Afeala village in 2018.The suspect was on the run after the incident occurred while his co-accused has already been arrested during the initial investigations.”

PPC Riolo says, “The suspect was arrested by Central Response Unit (CRU) and placed at the police custody for further dealings by Auki police investigators since the case belongs to Auki police.”

Chief Superintendent Riolo says, “The suspect has been charged with murder contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code. Investigators are working on his application to remand the suspect.”

Mr Riolo adds, “I want to thank people of Afeala village for working together with officers who involve in this operation resulting in the arrest of this on the run suspect.”
