RSIPF investigates malicious damage of ATM Machines in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force at the Central Police Station in Honiara are investigating damage of three Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) at the Heritage Park Branch on 24 April 2021.

Initial report said that the Machines has been maliciously damage by an unknown person using heavy object on the early hours on 24 April 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent John Matamaru says, “The matter was reported to police at the Central Police Station and investigation was carried out. The suspect on the same day after the incident call in at Central Police Station and informed officers that he is responsible to the damage of the Machines.”

PPC Matamaru says, “The suspect call in again at Central Police Station on 27 April 2021 for his under caution statement and he was formally arrested and placed in police custody. The suspect has been dealt with and charged for the offence of malicious damage and will appear at the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 5 May 2021.”

He adds, “I appeal to the good citizen of Solomon Islands to respect our businesses operates in the country. Such action is not good for us to do to our operating businesses in the country.”
