RSIPF investigates suspicious death of a 16-year-old female in Western Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Noro Police Station in Western Province are investigating a suspicious death of a 16-year-old female at Kindu village, Munda on 31 May 2021.
An initial report says that the deceased was last seen with her boyfriend near Kindu village after attending Kokeqolo Community High School. After few hours, her boyfriend alerted a neighbour that the deceased has fainted and they rushed her to Helena Goldie Hospital and later pronounced death.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The matter was reported to Noro Police Station by members of the deceased’s family and officers attended the scene on the next day due to heavy rain and it’s already dark.”
PPC Lenialu says, “Families and relatives of the deceased are not satisfied with the death and they are requesting a post mortem to be conducted to find out the cause of her death. I appeal to both parties to refrain from taking the laws in your own hands and allow police to deal with the matter.”
Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “Our condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.”
“An enquiry file has been established and police is calling on communities at Kindu to come forward with any information that may relate to the death of the young female,” says PPC Lenialu.
