RSIPF investigates traffic incidents involving police officer

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara are investigating two traffic incidents involving a police officer in a police vehicle at the Golf club and Panatina road on 29 May 2021.

It is alleged that the first incident occurred in front the Panatina plaza road. The officer was driving easterly direction when it collided with a white Toyota RAV 4 when trying to overtake it. The second incident occurred along the Golf club road. The said officer while driving the G-Plated vehicle hit the back of a blue RAV 4 that was travelling in front of him.

Director National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “The two incidents was reported to police by the vehicle owners and investigations into the two incidents was carried out.”

Director Satu says, “A file has been established and the investigation is underway into the two incidents. The officer is yet to be serve with the Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP).”

“I appeal to the general public in and around the Panatina plaza and Golf club area who may have any information about the incidents to come forward to police to assist with the investigation,” says Superintendent Satu.
