RSIPF charges two male suspects for traffic offences in Malaita Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Auki police station in Malaita Province have arrested two male person while conducting a vehicles check in Auki town on 31 June 2021.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations, Ms Evelyn Thugea says, “Both drivers were arrested on the same date on different locations and were charged with traffic offences.”
The first suspect was charged with one count of driving without a valid driving license contrary to section 20 (1) of the Road Transport Act.
The second suspect was charge for two counts. First count for driving without a valid driving license contrary to section 20(1) of the Road Transport Act and the second charge for using unlicensed motor vehicle contrary to section 7(1) of the Road Transport Act.
AC Thugea says, “Both defendants were released on bail to appear before the Auki Magistrate’s Court on 8 June 2021.”
Ms Thugea says, “During the traffic checks, one vehicle driver had been verbally warned for not displaying rear plate number whilst the other three vehicle drivers had verbally warned to renew their vehicle licenses.”
“I call on all good vehicle drivers in Malaita province to comply with the Road and Transport Act because the Act is there to safe guard us. Be careful when driving in and around our town and consider other road users,” says AC Thugea.
