RSIPF investigates traffic incident involving police officer

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara are investigating a traffic incident involving a police officer in a police vehicle at the Vavaya ridge road on 30 May 2021.

Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) National Operations Evelyn Thugea says, “It is alleged that the incident occurred at the Vavaya ridge road opposite Chiefs House.”

AC Thugea says, “The officer was driving down the Vavaya ridge road on the G-plated vehicle when he suddenly hit the back of a RAV4 that was travelling in front of him. The Vehicle have major damages on the back as a result of the collision.”

She says, “The incident was reported to police by the vehicle owner and investigation into the incident was carried out.The officer is served with the Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP).”

“I appeal to the general public in and around the Vavaya ridge road in Honiara who may have any information about the incident to come forward to police to assist with the investigation,” says Ms Thugea.
