The defendant grabbed tightly her hair with his hands and knocked her forcefully down to the ground. He further grabbed a piece of timber, which used for firewood and struck her wife hard again on the back.”
Ms Thugea says, “The victim reported the matter to police on the 27 December 2020 and investigating was carried out. The defendant was later arrested and charged for the office of physical abuse under Family Protecting Act (FPA) on the 12 January 2021 and released on bail.”
“I would like to thank the officers involved in the investigation for their tireless effort to get the suspect before the court. It is not easy as the victim and relatives occasionally put pressure on investigators for early withdrawal of such matters.”
“I appeals to victims of domestic violence to come forward and report such issues and to have clear understanding of the role of police during the course of investigation. What the police are doing is important to save lives. Many have been victim of such issues and police do not want to be repeat the same issue,” says AC Thugea.
