RSIPF witness Launching of Toga and New-Vunuha community by-laws in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central Province have participated and witnessed the launching of the community by-laws of Toga and New-Vunuha communities in the big Ngella, Central Province on 4 June 2021.

Assistance Police (AC) Commissioner National Operation Evelyn Thugea says, “More than hundred villagers including the Provincial Community Officers (PCO), Chiefs, Crime Prevention Committees (CPCs) and community elders attended the launching and witness the signing of the by-laws.”

AC Thugea adds, “Chiefs, elders and CPCs have appreciated the working in partnership they had with the police in Central Province to make this by-law a successful one for the betterment of the communities and the province as a whole.”

“Toga and New –Vunuha communities acknowledged officers in Tulagi for the engagement and awareness programmes. This will open door to the mindset for rural communities to recognise the by-laws as one that will help to reduce crimes in our communities.”

“This is part of the Crime Prevention Strategy roll out program of the RSIPF in Central Province to reduce crimes in our communities.”

“Ms Thugea says, “The by-laws are not new kind of rules or laws. Those are the once that already exist in our communities but not visited due to our ignorance. I want to thank the two communities in taking the initiatives to redirect the course and recognise the importance of the by-laws.”

“Police officers will continue to engage with communities and I appeal to the people of Central Province to respect and take the ownership of the by-laws. Help the Chiefs and CPCs to keep an eye in the communities together with the Police,” says AC Thugea
