RSIPF to monitor under age entering pubs and nightclubs in Honiara
Liquor unit and General Duty officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station had visited few night pubs and nightclubs that were reportedly allowing underage drinkers to enter during weekends.
Deputy Commissioner National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Ian Vaevaso says, “There were youths of both genders were seen in the pubs and nightclubs during weekends.”
DC Vaevaso says, “It is an offence under section 72 subsection 1-5 of the Liquor Act serve beer to children under the age of 21 years is highly restricted.”
Vaevaso says, “All pubs and nightclubs were issued with restrictions and it is of paramount important to make sure that licensees are adhering to the conditions of their license and the Liquor Act.”
He says, “Police will make regular visits to pubs and nightclubs within Honiara City jurisdiction and any premises with liquor license. Police will continue to make visits even though Honiara City Council Liquor License Board continue to issue occasional licenses to nightclubs to extend their normal business hours.”
“RSIPF Liquor unit at Central Police Station will continue to make sure that those liquor-licensed premises are properly policed. They must adhere to the conditions of their licenses before any consequences applied to ceased licenses from the rightful authorities,” DC Ian Vaevaso said.
