A male person died in a fatal accident at Henderson area early this morning
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Honiara City are investigating a fatal accident of a male person in his 20’s early this morning at Henderson area.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Police Station, Superintendent John Matamaru says the fatal accident has occurred along the high way up to the eastern end of the Henderson airport this morning between 4am and 6am this morning.
PPC Matamaru says, the vehicle involved in the fatal accident was travelling down westerly direction on its lane and of a sudden surprise the deceased run across the road and give no option to the driver and hit the deceased.
Superintendent Matamaru says the suspect is a probationer police constable who works at the National Traffic Department. Police has arrested the suspect and placed him in police custody for further dealings. The driver of the motor vehicle underwent a Random Breatherlyzer Test (RBT) and confirmed that the presence of alcohol in his blood was below the legal prescribed level.
Mr. Matamaru says my condolence to the family of the deceased during this time of bereavement as we lose one of our family member.
Both parties involved in the dialogue of the fatal accident have reconciled to each other and have established an understanding on the way forward to resolve the matter and to maintain peace and harmony between themselves. Although reconciliation happened between parties, police will proceed on with the matter to go before the courts, says PPC Matamaru.
