Police arrest three suspect during police operation over the weekend

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Honiara City have arrested three suspects over the weekend during a police operation from 2 – 4 July 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent John Matamaru says, “First arrest done at a black market at Point Cruz area, which involved a 19-year-old male for selling of beer after hours. Second suspect arrested at Kukum area, which relate to a traffic offense and the third suspect is a female whom was arrested at Stone Field for brewing of kwaso.”

PPC Matamaru says, “The first suspect was arrested on 2 July 2021 and placed in police custody, later dealt with on the next day and released on bail to appear before Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 19 July 2021.”
Superintendent Matamaru says, “A male suspect whom was arrested at Kukum area on 3 July 2021 related to a traffic offence was handed over to the National Traffic Department for further dealings while a female suspect was arrested on same date for brewing of kwaso. Both will appear in court on a later date.”

Mr Matamaru says, “During the night operation, police continues to visit nightclubs, pubs and other hot spot areas in and around Honiara City.

Police will continue to carry out such operations every weekend to curb criminal activities throughout the city. Operation teams continue their routine patrols around the city, attending to reports despatched by Police Communication Centre and monitor liquor license premises.”

The purpose of the operation is to monitor criminal activities in Honiara City and control liquor licensed premises from operating outside their license conditions.The Operation teams includes Naha Police Station, Central Police, and City Response Unit (CRU) personnel’s.
