Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi have arrested a 23-year-old male suspect from Halavo village yesterday (13 July 2021) for receiving stolen property contrary to section 313 of the penal code.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai says, “Investigators have carried out an investigation into the matter. Police officers located the suspect, as he is the one who received the stolen mobile phone worth $3000-00 from a group of boys.”

PPC Soakai says, “The suspect however bought a carton of beer and drank with the group of boys and took the phone from them. Prior to the statement-taking police had warned the suspect to cooperate but did not. Therefore, the suspect was arrested for the alleged offence.”

Superintendent Soakai says, “I urged the communities and villagers in Central Province not to take the law in your own hands by doing such actions. I ask our good people in Central Province to work together with the police for the common good of our communities to be a safe and peaceful place to live in.”
