Police charges 46-year-old male suspect for threatening violence in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station have arrested and charged a 46-year-old male suspect for threatening violence in Honiara on 16 June 2021.

It was alleged that the defendant was drunk when he entered a private residence in the Mbumburu area. The victim attended to him and the defendant verbally warned the victim, stating that he would return and kill him. He further stated to the victim to inform his father to be watchful and stated that he would return and remove his father from their house and burn down their dwelling house.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent John Matamaru says, “The matter was reported at the Central Police Station by the victim and the defendant was arrested and placed in police custody.”

PPC Matamaru says, “The accused was dealt with accordingly and charged for the offence of threatening violence contrary to section 89 (a) of the Penal Code. He was released on bail to appear at the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 26 July 2021. The case was adjourned for 16 August 2021.
