The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) removed a 120mm Japanese projectile bomb at Bulogaly village, Ata’a district in North Malaita on 24 July 2021.

Officer-in-charge (OIC) EOD Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “EOD have responded to the report dispatched by the police communication centre from a complainant. A team consists of five EOD experts dispatched to the area and safely remove the Japanese bomb.”

OIC Tunuki says, “The team arrived at the location the complainant met with them and saw the UXO. Based on their assessment, it is safe to remove it. They remove the UXO to the boat and transported back to Hells Point where render safe will take place.”

Inspector Tunuki says, “I would like to thank the Bulogaly villagers for the good support rendered to my team to remove the bomb from the community and I would like to thank my EOD operators for the well-done job to safely remove the bomb from the community.”

You could immediately report any UXO finding to the EOD Team on the police toll-free line, 999 or 23666. You can also call the mobile duty phone on 7495215.
