Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting a Render Safe Procedure task at AJ gravel site, from 8am to 2pm at the upper Lungga River in East of Honiara on 10 August 2021.

Officer In-charge (OIC) EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “This was in response to a UXO report, reported to police previously by the local communities in that area. The UXO is currently not safe to be moved and requires a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) task.”

Inspector Tunuki explains: “The purpose of this task is to safely knock off the sensitive element to the UXO before safe transportation to Hells Point for disposal. The task will occur on the said day and timings only along with certain roadblocks enforced within the area.”

He says, “Therefore, I urge our local communities in and around the Sun Valley, South Henderson, New Zealand Camp and upper Lungga areas to keep out while the operation is in progress.”

“I appeal to communities in Honiara and across the country to report any sightings of any Unexploded bombs through Police free toll line 999 or the RSIPF EOD mobile 7495215 or to any nearest Police Stations,” says OIC Tunuki.
