Police investigate two suspicious death in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating two suspicious deaths in Honiara.

The two-death incidents had occurred in different locations. One at Rock Haven and the other at Pacific Casino Hotel.

Deputy Commissioner National Security and Operation Support Mr Ian Vaevaso says, “The first death incident happened over the weekend and the other occurred on 17 August 2021.

“The deceased of the first incident is a 56-years-old man, a foreign national from Malaysia who worked at the Pacific Casino Hotel. He has a medical history of illness but is subject to investigation. The body is still at the morgue awaiting police report for repatriation.” DC Vaevaso adds

Mr Vaevaso says, “The deceased of the second incident in his 60s, from Malaita who is an employee of the South Sea Evangelical Church Head Office in Honiara. He went back after attending Church prayer on 16 August 2021 until the next morning his daughter came in for a visit but his room was locked. With the help of hotel staff, they opened the door and found him dead.”

He says, “Our condolences to the family and relatives of the two deceased for the loss of their loved ones.”

DC Vaevaso says, “Police yet to ascertain the possible causes of the death while investigation into the matter is still continuing. I appeal to those who may have any information to assist police with the investigation.”
