RSIPF intercepts logging company landing craft during lockdown in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Maritime Department who are doing sea patrols during the lockdown have intercepted a landing craft owned by a logging company based in the Western Province.

Police Maritime patrols intercepted the landing craft outside of the Solfish area at Lunga at 8:35pm last night on 29 August 2021.

RSIPF COVID-19 Police Operation Commander, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Simpson Pogeava said the landing craft has been escorted to Police Maritime at Aola to be kept awaiting further advice from the rightful authorities.”

Commander Pogeava said messaging in relation to the lockdown has already given out on awareness purposes to all citizens before the 36 hours lockdown. Therefore, anyone who has the intention of ignoring what has been put in place by the government to prepare us way forward should there be any community transmission will have to face consequences.

AC Pogeava said my good people; we must work together in supporting our leading agency, which is the Ministry of Health and Medical Services during the remaining hours of the lockdown.

“No more movements of small banana boats and vessels is required to travel from one place to another, especially at the emergency zone from Poha to Alligator Creek,” says Commander Pogeava.
