Police arrest a 39-year-old male person for consuming liquor in public place

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station have arrested and charged a 39-year-old male suspect for consuming liquor in the public place.

Police Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau says, “It is alleged that the suspect was holding a can of beer on his right hand and drunk it at the car park at the Central Police Station on the 19 September 2021 at about 12 mid-night.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “Police approached the suspect and told him that he is consuming beer in a public place. The suspect was arrested and dealt with.”

Mr. Mangau says, “The suspect was charged for consumption of liquor in certain public place Contrary to Section 65 of the Liquor Act.”

He says, “Defendant was later released on bail to appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on the 27th September 2021 for his plea.”
