Police arrest a 19-year old male suspect for defilement in Central province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central Province have arrested a 19-year old male suspect for defilement of a girl under 15-years-old on 22 September 2021.

Initial report said that the suspect has being having sex with the victim since 2018 when she was 12-years-old in Small Ngella.

Police Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “The matter was reported to police by the victim’s parents and investigation was carried out.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “The suspect was arrested and placed in police custody. He was later released and charged for the offence of defilement of a girl under 15 years-old and released on bail to appear at the Tulagi Magistrates’ court at a later date.”

“I call on communities in small Ngella who may have any information about the incident to come forward and report to police at Tulagi,” says Commissioner Mangau.
