RSIPF arrests suspect in alleged assault on NZ Naval officers

Honiara City Police officers have arrested the suspect in an alleged assault on two New Zealand (NZ) naval officers at a night club in the capital on the night of Friday 4 August 2017.

The two NZ naval officers were in Honiara as part of the recent 75th Battle of Guadalcanal Anniversary Commemorations.

Following the arrest of the suspect, the Honiara Magistrates Court yesterday remanded the male adult for fourteen days on charges of one count of unlawful wounding and, one count of unlawful assault. He has been remanded at the Rove Correctional Services in Honiara. Police are continuing with their investigations.

The same suspect also had a warrant of arrest pending in connection with a previous charge of Presence of Alcohol contrary to section 43(a) of the Road Transport Act.
