Police participates in consultation meeting with CPC in Central province
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Central Province participated in a consultation meeting with Chiefs and Crime Prevention Committee to review the Yandina by-law at the Yandina police station on 25 September 2021.
The meeting was held purposely to revise and discuss more on the gaps identified in the community by-laws more especially when it comes into customs and cultures, and the measures taken to resolve it.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai says, “I would like to acknowledge the participation, partnership and working together of the Chiefs and CPCs in Yandina and surrounding communities.”
PPC Soakai says, “I understand that Yandina is more multicultural, meaning there are a mixture of people from different islands with different backgrounds in terms of Cultures and Customs, and that was the identified gaps in your by-laws that gives us the challenges when dealing with problems and issues.”
Superintendent Soakai says, “The concept of enforcing the by-laws is to give back ownership to the community in dealing with issues that arise in our community even if we are from other different provinces with different cultural backgrounds. The Revising of the by-laws is now at your hands to discuss and I am waiting for the day you may wish to relaunch it.”
“I appeal to all the Chiefs and CPCs of Yandina and surrounding communities within Russell islands to keep maintaining the good work as they already did in the communities to resolve and manage problems. I also appeal for continued partnership with the work of the police in Yandina Police station,” says PPC Soakai.
