Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force at Tulagi Police Station in Central Province have arrested three male suspects aged between 18 and 50 year-old for assault causing bodily harm to a 25-year-old male in Big Ngella on 26 September 2021.

Initial report said that two of the suspects went to the victim's house and pulled him to their house. The third suspect who was the father of the two other suspects advised them to assault the victim.

It was alleged that the two suspects and their father unlawfully punched the victim on the face and on his back several times and hit him with a stick. Suspects later tore the victim’s clothes leaving the victim naked.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The matter was reported to police by the victim and the suspects were arrested and placed in police custody.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “They were later released and charged for the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm Contrary to Section 245 of the Penal Code and released on bail to appear at the Tulagi Magistrates’ Court at a later date.”

“I appeal to the people in communities around Central Province to respect one another. Seek assistance from village chiefs, elders and police if you have any disagreement with anyone in the community. Police will not tolerate anyone with no care attitude and disrespecting other people in our communities,” says Commissioner Mangau.
