Police arrest a 40-year-old male person for cutting another person with bush knife in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station have arrested a 40-year-old male suspect for causing grievous harm to a male person in his 20s at Hakama settlement via Tabana Village in Central Province on 27 September 2021.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “It is alleged that the suspect went into a dwelling house where the victim was sleeping and cut the victim on his right side chest with a big bush knife.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “The victim was transported to Tulagi Hospital and later referred to National Referral Hospital for further treatment. The condition of the victim is stable.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “The suspect was formally arrested, placed in police custody, dealt accordingly and later transported to Honiara for remand purposes in which was granted and remanded at Rove Correctional Center awaiting for later court date.”

Mr Mangau says, “Investigation to the incident is still continuing and I appeal to communities around the place where the incident occurred to come forward and assist police officers.”

I appeal to the people in communities around Central Province to respect each other and consult police through our CPCs if you have any disagreement with anyone in the community. Police will not tolerate anyone with no care attitude, being ignorant and disrespecting people in our communities,” says Commissioner Mangau.
