Two male defendants aged 26 and 35-year-old have pleaded guilty for common nuisance before a sitting Magistrate in the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 8 October 2021.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander Honiara City Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The two defendants were found guilty for the offence and sentenced to fine $800 each. If the defendants have not paid for their fines until 22 October 2021, they will serve 30 days Imprisonment.”

On 2 October 2021, the two defendants appeared drunk on a market stall at the Kaibia area where a woman used to sell her betel nuts. One of the defendants grabbed three rolls of cigarettes and went away.

The victim told the defendants to buy the cigarettes but they refused. One of the defendants started shouting and acting disorderly which caused a lot of noise to the neighbourhood.

PPC Robo says, the matter was reported to police and the defendants were arrested on 7 October 2021 and placed at the Central Police Station custody. Both defendants were charged for common nuisance Contrary to Section 172 of the Penal Code and appeared in Court.”

“I would like to thank the officers for the successful arrests of these defendants. I would also like to thank investigators for their hard work to have these defendants before the Court,” says PPC Robo.
