Police arrest a 47-year-old foreigner for raping a 12-year-old girl in Choiseul Province

Joint operations between Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Immigration officers in Taro have arrested a 47-year-old Asian male suspect for raping a 12-years-old girl at a Logging camp in Choiseul Province recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The perpetrator was arrested on 12 October 2021 to Taro police stations and dealt with.”

PPC Eria says, “The male expatriate was an employee of a logging company in Choiseul Province. He allegedly lured the victim sometimes for wrong intentions and eventually raped the victim.”

Superintendent Eria says, “The male suspect was arrested and charged for one count of rape Contrary to Section 136.F(1)(a)(b) of the penal code as amended of (sexual offences) Act 2016, and other breaches of immigration acts. He will be sent to Gizo Magistrates’ Court on 25 October 2021 for remand applications.”

Mr. Eria says,

“Investigation into the incident is continuing and I ask anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to assist police with its investigation.”

He says, “I call upon parents and guardians to take extra care for our children and be mindful to avoid being victimized by such crime.”
