The Permanent Secretary (PS) of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Ms Karen Galokale today opened the one-week conference of the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and departmental directors of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara 0n 25 October 2021.

The Conference is attended by PPCs from all the provinces including Honiara City, Guadalcanal Province and departmental directors from the RSIPF Headquarters in Rove with the theme, ‘Strengthening policing in collaboration with the Solomon Island Government key priorities and preparedness for national security threats’.

The conference is to evaluate performance in the 2020 RSIPF’s Annual Business Report against the Strategic Plan, including discussions on the performance and implementation of the framework. The PPCs and Directors will review 2020 and 2021 work plans and performance. This will pave a way to create a comprehensive work plan that will be easy to implement by field officers.

PS Ms. Galokale says you must be good dreamers and planners in order to direct your operations in a targeted manner that may minimise costs with best tangible results. Last year’s conference the theme has been proven that each of you have plans set in place and included in your work action plans last year.

She says the response received from you towards COVID-19 operations have a great impact on our fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic. Through your hard work and commitment to the support rendered to the government line Ministries and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, we have seen that our country is still safe from the deadly disease.

PS Galokale says COVID-19 has really affected the government's overall budget, which causes financial constraints to government ministries including our Ministry.

Therefore, these financial constraints should also be considered when creating plans. I kindly urge all of you to work together to support each other to develop plans that reflect the needs of our people and communities and ensure to work within the budget allocated for us.

Permanent Secretary Galokale says as leaders, we need to create stronger links with other stakeholders. This will create a way in or through as we go into implementing our plans. This way, we may be opening a stream that encourages dialogue between other agencies on issues and seek assistance.

The weeklong conference on 25 and will finished on 29 October 2021.
