RSIPF arrests three suspects for producing kwaso in Renbel province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station in Renbel Province have arrested three male suspects aged 19, 28 and 30 year-old for producing kwaso on 29 October 2021.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr Joseph Manelugu says, “Police received information about kwaso production at Ta’akitonu settlement. Police attended and arrested the suspects and placed them in police custody.”

AC Manelugu says, “Cooking utensils that used to produce kwaso (homebrew) were also confiscated and recorded for court exhibits.”

Mr Manelugu says, “The suspects were charged for one count each for Restrictions on making liquor Contrary to Section 50 (2) (c) of the Liquor Act and bail to appear in the upcoming court circuit in Renbel Province in December 2021.”

He says, “Producing of Kwso is an offence and police will not tolerate anyone producing kwaso in our communities. I want to thank members of the community who assist police in having these suspects arrested to face justice.”
