Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara have arrested a male person following a fatal accident on 31 October 2021 at the Fishing village area, East Honiara.

Director National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “It is alleged that the deceased was hit by a white double cabin Hilux in the early hours of Sunday (31 October 2021).”

“The driver stopped and picked the deceased body and rushed him to the National Referral Hospital (NRH). While he was trying to help the deceased, some by-standers attacked him at the scene. Despite the attack, he managed to grab the deceased and rushed him to the NRH where he was later pronounced dead by medical authorities.”

Superintendent Satu adds: “A case has been formally established and registered as investigation continues into the matter before the casefile is forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. The suspect is currently with National Traffic IB team dealing with him accordingly.”

“My condolences to the immediate family and relatives of the deceased after the tragic loss of one of their members.”

“I call on the relatives of the deceased not to take the law into their own hands but let police deal with the matter,” says Superintendent Satu.
