Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have rescued three male persons who have been accused of a sorcery incident at Veravaolu village on 17 October 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “Initial report stated that the suspects will be kept for safety purposes and waiting for reconciliation to be done by parties of the deceased and the suspects.”

PPC Alfred Uiga says, “Both parties including five chiefs and legal representatives met for a hearing at Henderson Police Station to cause an enquiry into the matter.”

“During the hearing there were five witnesses who swore in and confirmed that the trio were responsible for the killing and the suspects admitted that they were responsible for the death of the deceased on 5 November 2021.” Chief Superintendent Uiga adds

“Police investigation into the alleged matter surrounding their (suspects) admission during the custom hearing (inquiry) for having, being responsible for dead of the deceased is continuing.”
Mr Uiga says, “After the hearing, the chiefs have decided the penalties according to Guadalcanal custom the suspect’s side should give to the deceased family on the reconciliation day which was set to be held at Aola Police Station on 27 June 2022.”

PPC Uiga says, “I strongly warned the both parties to respect each other and not to take law into their own hands but respect the chief’s decision on this matter.”
