Police investigate death of a 30-year-old male person after hitting icebox glass
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Naha Police Station are investigating the death of a 30-year-old man who hit an icebox glass at Ranadi, east of Honiara on 12 November 2021.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Jimson Robo says 12 mid-night on 11 November 2021, the deceased arrived home drunk after out drinking and slept outside the veranda.
Supervising PPC Robo says his wife also arrived after out searching for him. She saw the deceased fast asleep on the veranda. She tried to wake him up to go to the room or have his bath but the deceased could not since he was fully drunk and asleep.
PPC Robo says the deceased woke up and went into his family room and realized that the door was locked so he knocked on the door thinking that his wife was inside the room. Later he came out aggressively, took a mop, and hit it on a parked car owned by his father in-law.
Superintendent Robo says his family members try to control him but are unable to handle the situation. The deceased then took a chair and threw it at his father in-law. Then he walked towards three empty iceboxes standing beside the house and punched the first one. He punched a glass door of another icebox and this is where he has serious injuries on his elbow.
Mr. Robo says the deceased was transported to the National Referral Hospital after the incident by his father in-law and pronounced dead by medical authorities. The deceased married and had two children.
He says, “My condolences to the relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.”
Investigation into the matter is continuing and our investigators are appealing to the general public or anyone around that time to assist police with information.
