Police raid kwaso base and arrest a male suspect in Western Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Noro Police Station raided brewer’s hub for kwaso (homebrew) and arrested a male person on 18 November 2021 at Konguporo settlement in the Western Province.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province says. “The raid has happened after receiving information that there is a big preparation of kwaso production targeting the festive season.”
PPC Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “Police were deployed to that location and discovered that the location is the supply of kwaso at Konguporo and all its catchment area as far as Goldie College School.”
PPC Lenialu says, “Police were led to the production area and confiscated cooking utensils. This raid will eased down the production rate of kwaso sale at Noro Township and will be welcoming news for the surrounding communities here at Noro for their concern of the increased kwaso related problem experienced over the weeks.”
Mr Lenialu says, “I would like to acknowledge those who come forward to assist Police in reporting such unwanted activities at the community and to my hard working Police officers who made the arrest successful.”
He says. “We will continue with our operation to other locations within the Noro communities for any outlets of illegal marketing of alcohols, kwaso brewing’s and other illegal drug outlets. Police are very mindful of the period leading up to the festive season where normally these drugs are expected for high demand at the local outlets.”
