The National Community Policing team and Human Resources Department of the RSIPF are reaching out to members of the Youth @ Work during a Career Expo at the National Museum Auditorium in Honiara from 21 – 22 August 2017.
The RSIPF officers at the Career Expo are presenting on the values of the Force and what is expected of candidates who are thinking of making policing as a career.
“Members of the RSIPF are required to uphold the constitution and laws of Solomon Islands, show ethical leadership at all levels, accountable and responsible, honest, show courage, integrity and self-discipline and embrace and promote gender equality,” said Staff Sergeant Martin Haga of the National Community Policing team when addressing the group of youth today.
Police officers in Solomon Islands are expected to have respect for all human life, respect for the law, integrity, service excellence and respect for property rights.
“The mission of the RSIPF is to provide a safe and peaceful Solomon Islands by strengthening relationships with the community,” Mr Haga said.
Mr Haga explained: “The RSIPF is looking for people with high levels of commitment and integrity to take on the challenge of being a police officer. People must be of good behaviour and character, have successfully completed Form 5 or above, be medically and physically fit, have no criminal record and be a Solomon Islands national or have permanent residency.”

A total of 243 Youth @ Work participants, including 123 female and 120 male, are attending the Careers Expo sessions during which they receive information from various organisations including the RSIPF and ask questions on the recruitment criteria and training programs.
