RSIPF investigates alleged rape of 12-year-old girl at western border

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the western border with Papuan New Guinea are investigating the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl on 14 December 2021 at a village in the Shortland Islands

Second Forward Commander (FC) Kulitanai, Inspector Michael Aluvolomo says, “It is really a sad rape incident because the alleged perpetrator is reportedly related to the victim.”

Police attended to a report on the incident but the suspect was not at home.
Inspector Aluvolomo says, “Our investigation into the rape incident is underway and I appeal to the suspect to surrender to police at Kulitanai. I also appeal to members of the public in the area of the alleged incident to come forward with any information that will assist the investigation into this sad incident.”

“I urge parents and guardians to take make an extra effort to look after our young girls especially during this festive season.

This is a really sad incident as someone very close to the family is a suspect,” says Inspector Aluvolomo.
