Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station have arrested an 18-year-old male suspect for stealing $41,000.00 plus dollars from a foreign national in front of a shop before the Sun Valley cross road area on 19 December 2021.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Police, Superintendent John Foru says, “The incident happened on 18 December 2021 when a couple came in front of a shop and went out shopping.”

PPC Foru says, “At the car park, the victim left his wife in the vehicle and went out shopping. It is alleged that the suspect came in and grabbed the victim’s bag and fled out towards the crossroad area.”

Mr. Foru says,

“There are other foreign currencies inside the bag with a mobile phone and two passports. Police managed to recover $6,700.00 plus dollars and label it as police exhibits for court.”

He says, “The suspect has been charged for simple larceny, contrary to section 261 of the Penal Code Ch.26 and will appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 03 January 2022 for his mention while investigation into the matter is continuing.”
