Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have arrested and charged a male person for burning down his aunt’s dwelling house on 26 December 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent John Foru says, “It is alleged that the accused had an argument with his cousin brother (son of the victim) in relation to their past issues that have already been settled between families.”

PPC Foru says, “They were under influence of liquor that had led the accused into the victim’s house, destroyed their belongings, and began setting fire inside the house that cause the house to burn down.”

The accused was formally charged with Arson Contrary to section 319 of the Penal Code.

Chief Superintendent Foru says, “The accused is now remanded at the Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) and will appear in the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 12 January 2022.”
